All we want for Christmas is a Fair Contract!

With Christmas, Hanukkah, and the New Year just around the corner, this season offers a special opportunity to reflect on the moments and victories that make our lives better. As we gather with loved ones, we celebrate the incredible strength and unity that have shaped our lives and workplace. Through collective action and hard-fought bargaining, we’ve secured the job protections, strong working conditions, and improvements that not only empower nurses at St. Clare’s but also make our hospital a cornerstone of care for the community.

This New Year isn’t just a turning of the calendar—it marks the beginning of a critical chapter for all 300+ nurses who call St. Clare’s home. Negotiations for our new contract are on the horizon, and we’ve assembled an exceptional team of dedicated nurses, including elected officers and passionate volunteers, to represent us at the bargaining table. Mark your calendars—our first bargaining dates are set for 1/15, 1/17, 1/27, and 1/30.

We’re inspired by the recent success of our union siblings at St. Joseph Medical Center, who secured a groundbreaking contract with huge wins: the highest wages in Pierce County (and among the top in the state), improved staffing levels, and enhanced safety and security measures. You can check out a summary of their contract here. Their achievements are proof of what’s possible when we stand united, and we’re ready to fight for a contract that delivers the same rights, protections, and advancements for St. Clare’s nurses.

Stay tuned for updates on bargaining and ways you can get involved in our fight for a stronger future. In the meantime, enjoy this holiday season to the fullest. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or simply the joy of the season, we wish you peace, happiness, and a wonderful New Year. Together, let’s make 2024 a year of unity, strength, and progress!
