Tentative Agreement Reached – Your Bargaining Team Recommends a “YES” Vote

We reached a tentative agreement (TA) with the County on a one-year extension of our collective bargaining agreement (CBA). Please vote – here are the ratification voting dates and locations:

  • September 17 10 am - 5 pm, Chinook Building, 401 5th Ave, Suite 115, Seattle, WA 98104
  • September 18 10 am - 4 pm, WSNA Office, 575 Andover Park W, Suite 101, Tukwila, WA 98188

Highlights of our TA include:

  • A 5.5% wage increase effective January 1, 2025, calculated in part as a COLA and in part as a General Wage Increase (GWI); the COLA is 4% and the GWI is an additional 1.5% and is based on successful ratification of the TA by 6:30pm on September 18, 2024
  • An acknowledgement that the JLMIC negotiated changes to health benefits costs for 2025 – these have been previously communicated. You can find them on your WSNA web page .
  • New language about County support for telecommuting and alternative work schedules, which includes providing that those arrangements will not be unreasonably denied
  • An extension of a parking benefit (paying the “after hours” rate for parking at Goat Hill) for day Jail Health Services nurses through December 31, 2025
  • An agreement to begin bargaining a successor contract in January 2025
  • Carry-over of the Longevity Steps Working Committee’s work into this successor bargaining
  • An agreement by the County that it will provide information about initial employee step placement so that we can examine this through an equity lens, among other things
  • The remaining terms and conditions of the CBA remain in effect through December 31, 2025

We fought for additional changes to our contract based on identified priorities, but the County did not agree to these. The parking benefit extension and new telecommuting language provide benefits beyond what is in the Coalition-negotiated one year extension agreement.

We have posted a detailed summary of the TA. We will have copies of the TA, which is formatted as a MOU, at the ratification votes.
