Negotiations Update Session #6
Posted Mar 22, 2023
On March 14, WSNA and Seattle King County met for the sixth day of negotiations. Unfortunately, the County is still only offering a 4% wage increase in 2023 and a 4% wage increase in 2024. We have not wavered in stressing that the employer must do more to retain and recruit into the supervisor unit.
Rather than coming up with ways to recruit and retain, the County seeks to extract more onerous work commitments from the supervisor unit. For example, the County has made proposals to allow it to change work schedules on short notice, enabling the County to have supervisors be “voluntold” to work additional hours on evenings or weekends.
Our next bargaining session is planned for March 30.
Supervisor meeting with Dr. Khan on March 27 from 2-4 pm
The meeting has been changed to a virtual meeting on Teams, as Dr. Khan could not meet in person. Dr. Khan will be attending from 2-3 p.m. Also, in attendance for the County will be Brenda Bauer, the assistant county executive for operations. Doreen Hersch CNO will attend. The office of labor relations hosts the meeting, with James Crowe attending on their behalf.
This is a significant opportunity. We need all supervisors to attend this meeting. If you don’t want to speak, please log in and be on camera in solidarity with your fellow supervisors. We may not need the full two hours. If you need to log on late or leave early, please still attend.
If you want to speak, we ask that a pre-prepared statement be written and shared with the officers or sent to Bret as soon as possible.
Here is a link for the meeting, Monday, 3/27, from 2-4 p.m.
