WSNA Leadership Awards 2022

Dawn award

Congratulations to Dawn Morrell for receiving the 2022 WSNA Cabinet Leadership Award for Outstanding Grievance Officer.

Dawn has served as WSNA Grievance Officer at Good Samaritan Hospital for several years, dedicated to ensuring nurses in the bargaining unit receive fair representation. She has an awesome knowledge of the union contract and about labor laws. We’re fortunate to have someone on our team who has served as a Washington State Legislator in the House of Representatives in the 25th District for 10 years. Being appointed by Governor Inslee, Dawn has served on the Nursing Quality Care Assurance Commission since 2018. Dawn is the Nurse Staffing Co-Chair at Good Samaritan and works hard with her team to establish staffing plans for each unit. She brings forward ADO issues to both Conference Committee and Staffing Committee. She has fought for fair contracts on Negotiations Teams.

Dawn has served on the WSNA PAC and Legislative Committee. She was a recipient of the WSNA Legislator Shine Award. She helped pass the first Safe Staffing Bill and legislation for ARNP Complete Prescriptive Authority. Dawn has been a member of WSNA since 1984 and has contributed so much to our profession. Dawn works in the Cath Lab. If you see her, be sure to congratulate her.
