RNs vote "YES" on Meal and Rest Break MOU
Posted Nov 22, 2024
On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, RNs at UWMC voted "YES" by an overwhelming majority, to accept the Meal and Rest Break Memorandum of Understanding negotiated between WSNA and the employer.
This MOU affords the flexibility of combining breaks, scheduling meals and rest breaks at a time most convenient for the RN as well as the ability to waive the Labor and Industry provided optional second meal period for any shifts over 10 hours in length (This is what keeps you from having to work a 13 hour shift).
The employer is developing a final waiver and learning materials to allow you to know how to utilize these resources and ensure you get your rest breaks and meals consistently.
A big thanks to everyone who made it out to vote, along with the WSNA RN leaders that helped negotiate this MOU.
