Negotiation update
Posted Oct 16, 2019
We met with Tacoma General on Monday, Oct. 14 for our third contract bargaining session.
Both parties exchanged all remaining initial proposals. Management agreed to have all initial proposals on the table by the third session and they did so.
We are diving deeper into several issues, including an in-house float pool proposal and changes to medical benefits. Management has proposed that for RNs hired at TG after Jan. 1, 2020, the healthcare insurance premiums for full-time eligible change from 0.6 to 0.75 FTE. This is the proposed take-away that we expected.
TG nurses sent management a strong message of support for us today with all your messages of support. Thank you for that!
Other news is that both parties agreed to open negotiations. This means that TG RNs can sit in as observers. Generally the morning session will be 9:30 a.m. to noon and the afternoon session will be from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Space is limited for observers. If you would like to attend either or both sessions at the La Quinta in Tacoma, you must RSVP.
We are scheduled to negotiate on Oct. 23 and 28. To RSVP for negotiations, to join the TG RN secret Facebook group or if you have questions or comments, email WSNA Nurse Representative Sydne James at sjames@wsna.org.
Better together,
Your 2019 WSNA Contract Bargaining Team
