It’s Time to Walk: We’re Picketing on November 1!
Posted Oct 21, 2024
From day one of negotiations, we've made it crystal clear to management: safe staffing, wages and premiums that recruit and retain nurses, and a workplace where nurses aren’t subject to daily violence are our top priorities. Management’s proposals have not addressed our concerns. With three bargaining sessions scheduled between now and then, it’s time to show them we mean business.
We are picketing on 11/1/2024—the first day after the contract expires from 0630-0900 and 1100-1300 with a rally at 1130. While we are pushing for a fair and just contract in these last three sessions, we must show management that we are united, unyielding, and prepared to fight for what we deserve.
What Happens Next?
There’s a lot to do between now and our picket, and every nurse needs to step up! Here’s what you can do:
- Wear your "I'm Ready to Walk" stickers proudly, start spreading the word, and plan your picket sign message!
- Show management that St. Joe’s nurses support our bargaining team. Sign up to attend negotiations on October 23, 24, and 30 as an observer by contacting organizer Grace at 206-553-9794.
- Wear your WSNA T-shirts on negotiation days and Blue Fridays.
If you haven't yet signed the pink picket pledge, don’t wait! Find your unit rep, officer, bargaining team member, or organizer Grace to grab a copy.
Plan to picket on November 1. Come before work if you're on the day shift, or join the picket line on your breaks. If you're on night shift, picket after your shift ends. Not working? Be there for both sessions! Bring your family, friends, kids, dogs—bring your passion for a safer workplace!
We’ll also be hosting sign-making parties over the next 10 days. This is your chance to show your creativity and make your voice heard!
Three years ago, we brought the numbers, the power, and the heat. Let’s kick it up.
In solidarity,
