Internal Disaster Over the Weekend
On Friday night VMFH management let us know that due to an internal disaster related to power issues at Tacoma General Hospital, non-medical patients would be diverted to SJMC. Management approached us about coming to an agreement to allow nurses from St. Clare Hospital come to help out, as well as to match the $5/hour incentive SCH nurses were being offered for SJMC nurses. The agreement is for 24 hours at a time and can only be extended by mutual agreement between WSNA and the Hospital. You can find a copy of the MOU here. Full operations are expected to resume at TGH today.
We have confirmed with management that the incentive will be honored even if it was not communicated with nurses before they picked up. The incentive is on top of all other premiums, differentials, and other owed compensation as described in the collective bargaining agreement. If you believe you are owed the incentive, please write it down in the Kronos exception log on your unit. If you have any questions, please contact your nurse rep at JRichardson@WSNA.org
Rainier Olympic Nurses Association
Did you know that as a member of WSNA at St. Joe’s you are also automatically a member of Rainier Olympic Nurses Association, the regional professional nurses association for our area. RONA offers a wide variety of professional development opportunities including scholarships and CE credit through workshops and training. RONA also acknowledges the hard work nurses do, including honoring Nurse of the Year. If you know a nurse who deserves to be acknowledged for the work they do, you can nominate them here.
