MyTime Bargaining
We have two more sessions scheduled with the Federal Mediator in October to discuss the changes to timeclock practices. We hope to make progress towards a resolution after many months of back-and-forth and will keep you posted on the outcome.
COVID and EIB
With the recent surge in COVID that has been felt particularly acutely at St. Joseph, some staff have been informed that they are no longer entitled to immediate access to their Extended Illness Bank until they have exhausted 32 hours of their hard-earned PTO. The union was informed by HR that they stopped this practice at the close of the Federally Declared Public Health Emergency on May 11, 2023, but upon further investigation we have found that some nurses have been granted access while others have had to expend 32 hours of PTO. We have submitted a grievance as the pandemic is clearly not over given the reinstitution of masking across all PeaceHealth campuses along with a notable uptick in community and staff infections. We will keep you updated on our progress.
Insurance Update: UMR and FCN
We have heard the devastating effects that Family Care Network dropping UMR insurance will have on many nurses employed by St. Joseph Medical Center and their families. We have issued a demand to bargain regarding these changes per Article 14.1.2. We believe the hospital must provide sufficient coverage to allow nurses to seek out vital health care services in a timely manner. Keep an eye on your email and texts for a survey to give us more information about your health care needs so we can best represent you in the upcoming negotiations. Your officers will be handing out stickers so we can get the word out to our community that we demand a choice in our health care!
