Bargaining IS ON! First and Second Session Wrap-Up

PXL 20250122 011017725

It was a cold day in HEC when the Bargaining Team met up for our first session....literally. Despite freezing temperatures outside, and near-freezing temperatures inside the building, we huddled around tiny space heaters and finalized a nearly comprehensive proposal that we delivered to administration the afternoon of our first session!

Sip n' Chat

The team has spent the last couple of months scouring the results of the survey and meeting with members to discuss concerns while deep-diving into the history of contract negotiations at St. Joe's to come up with the best opener. Want to hear more about what we actually proposed? Join us on Teams (make sure you're not logged into your PeaceHealth account!) for a Sip n' Chat on Monday, January 27 from 4:30-5:30 pm (and every Monday while we're in negotiations) Meeting ID: 276 971 414 999

Solidarity Signs

Your Contract Action Team wants you to show management that our members are unified for a strong contract. Keep an eye out for giant sticky poster papers on your unit and write down your hopes and messages of solidarity to support your bargaining team. Check out these examples from other bargaining units for inspiration!

Quick Survey

While our bargaining team is at the table, we may need to send out some flash surveys to gather information about issues we are discussing in real time. Please keep an eye on your phone for texts from WSNA, especially on bargaining days! If you don't get texts from WSNA currently, please let your local unit officer know.

Health Insurance Changes

WSNA nurses spoke out this week to Northwest Public Broadcasting about the changes to your insurance: Workers at PeaceHealth feel their access to health care is limited with new insurer - Northwest Public Broadcasting

While we continue to fight at the table, we need YOU to put pressure on the hospital and make them understand how this is affecting you. HR has continued to deny our right to bargain over these changes. During the second day of negotiations, they proposed worse language weakening our rights to fight future insurance changes.

PeaceHealth needs to know that the changes to the insurance are hurting nurses. Submit a ticket to MyHR about your concerns and real-world problems. Did your prescription costs increase? Have you lost access to your provider or specialist? Were you forced to dramatically change the way in which you receive your care? Let your team and HR know how this change in health insurance is affecting you. Send your screenshots of your MyHR submissions to gchesterman@wsna.org.

Your Team,

Laura Bayes, Robin Cully, Jenn Engelhart, Rhonda Tull, Tracy Pullar, Amber Pouley, Jen Hampton, Kristin Malmo, Errin Hull, and Kelly Carroll
