Contract negotiations update
Posted Jul 31, 2019
The tone of session eight was better than it has been and, although we did not reach a tentative agreement, management appeared more receptive.
In an effort to address the concerns we heard from many nurses at our local unit meetings, we provided management a couple of new proposals:
- One of our proposals was specifically for the OR and PACU, where several nurses on those units are incurring 200-300+ hours of low census in a rolling calendar year, to provide them a low census relief program. The program would allow them up to 12 education hours per pay period in lieu of mandatory low census.
- Another proposal was that nurses that sign up to work an extra shift could choose not to be on placed on standby.
- We also provided management with an economic counter proposal they are reviewing and assured us they will give us their response next session.
Our next session is next Monday, August 5, 2019.
Together we are strong, together we win!
