It's time to talk money

SCH Fun Financial Fact #1
Children’s has 342 days of cash on hand. That means that if Children’s made no money starting today, it would still have enough money at its disposal to pay for all of its operations (including payroll) without selling any buildings or land for nearly a full year. (Citation: Seattle Children's Healthcare System Financial Statements FY22 Q1 and Q2). By comparison, Virginia Mason has 152 days cash on hand. (Citation: from Virginia Mason’s financial statements.)
We put down our opening economic proposals. We went bold: knowing how wealthy Children’s is and how many staff openings we have and how nurses have been winning solid, strong raises throughout Washington State and elsewhere, we put down a proposal with double-digit increases for each of three years. We also proposed increases to several premiums and differentials based on recent victories achieved by other nurses. Talk to a bargaining team member for more information!
No Retaliation for ADOs!
We notified management that a director has been intimidating nurses into not filing Assignment Despite Objection forms. It is your right under federal and state law to file an ADO and it is illegal to discriminate or retaliate against a nurse for doing it. Protect your license: keep filing ADOs every time staffing or other conditions are unsafe. Without them, management insists that staffing is fine because they’re not getting complaints. If you have been threatened or persuaded against filing an ADO, notify an officer or Nurse Representative Travel Elmore (info below).
Our next bargaining session is on May 26, 2022.
Thank you to all of the nurses who attended the Nurses Week celebration at Ray’s Boathouse on May 11! We had a great time celebrating NURSES!
