Local unit negotiations update

Flyersm

Day 13 of negotiations, and our second day of mediation is complete. While dozens of issues remain on the table, we made progress on very important issues to the bargaining unit. We successfully fought off Management’s proposal to force nurses to come to work even when they are not on call. Conversations on recognition for past experience were a large part of the day, with effective discussions.

While we appreciate the movement, large issues remain on the table including the loss of EIT in exchange for a Short Term Disability plan, variable shifts, which includes rotation between “adjacent” shifts (e.g., day-evening, evening-night), workplace violence and safe staffing issues. Your efforts made a difference at the negotiating table and Management is feeling the pressure put on by the nurses.

Rapid Response Organizers (RROs) are out and making progress! If you have not talked with your assigned RRO, come to the local unit meeting to find out who you should connect with. Strike Pledge forms and Strike Committee forms will also be available for sign up.

Don’t miss out on the next local unit meeting!
