I am WSNA! I can help!

Check out volunteer opportunities within the Pullman Regional Hospital local bargaining unit. Register below and be moved into action.

Detailed information about each of these volunteer opportunities appears below the form.

I'm interesting in serving:
What part about being a Local Unit Liaison interests you the most?

Be a Local Unit Liaison!

Local Unit Liaisons are the eyes and ears of the unit and act as a link between local unit officers and nurses on the floor. Liaisons receive training on how to speak union at work, talk to colleagues about WSNA, and be the bridge for communication from staff nurses to both local unit officers and the WSNA Nurse Representative. Examples of work include hanging flyers on boards, getting nurses feedback on staffing plans, helping plan events and gathering contact information to keep membership contacts updated.

Serve as a Local Unit Officer

Positions include Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary/Treasurer, Grievance Officer, and Membership officer!

Safety Committee (Article 9.25 of CBA)

This committee shall consider and develop recommendations on health and safety matters of concern to registered nurses, including, but not limited to, infectious diseases, ergonomics, chemical hazards, security and physical safety, radiation, reduction of latex in the workplace, safe needle devices, back injuries and safe education. Time at the safety committee meeting will be paid at the nurses’ base rate of pay. The Committee shall evaluate all formally reported instances of violence and concerns about violence and recommend changes. The Committee shall conduct an annual risk assessment of the Hospital.

Benefits Committee (Article 15.5 of CBA)

Be part of a joint committee including nurses, management, and administration in an advisory capacity regarding benefits.

Serve on the Staffing Committee

The Staffing Committee meets monthly to address staffing complaints. Members work in collaboration with management to evaluate staffing complaints and concerns, draft and produce hospital staffing plans, and evaluate factors that contribute to the staffing plan. All committee time is paid and meetings typically are 1.5 hours in length.

Serve on the Negotiation Team

The Negotiating Team is a body of dynamic nursing leaders who have been given the authority to make critical decisions in the best interest of the nurses through collective bargaining. Alongside the officers, members of the Negotiating Team work to address issues affecting nurses at Pullman through discussions with management and help carry out tasks to engage and energize the unit during campaigns. Such tasks may include but are not limited to posting bargaining updates on boards, turnout for an event, gathering nurses to sign a petition, or helping to organize a rally or informational picket.

WSNA New Hire Representative

Once a month, on the second Monday of each month, spend 30 minutes meeting with newly hired RNs at Pullman Regional to share the benefits of being a WSNA member. Show nurses where to find their contract, help them fill out their application, and answer questions they may have about being a Union nurse at Pullman. This is a recurring monthly commitment except when there are no nurses being onboarded. Training can be provided for those who would like it.

For more information on any of these roles, contact WSNA Nurse Representative Alle Machorro.
