Overlake WSNA members vote "YES" to ratify the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between WSNA and Overlake regarding Body Worn Cameras (BWC’s)/CCTV
Posted Apr 10, 2025
On April 7-9, WSNA conducted an electronic vote for the Body Worn Cameras/CCTV MOU that was negotiated between WSNA and the employer.
RNs voted "YES" by an overwhelming majority to accept the MOU.
Big thanks to everyone that made voting a priority and made their way through the new electronic ballot system!
The nurses will be notified when this signed MOU is posted as a link on your WSNA local unit webpage within the next couple of weeks.
For updates, contact WSNA Representative Tara Barnes tbarnes@wsna.org or contact your WSNA Local Unit Chair, Chris Birchem. Given the need for further communication and education regarding this practice by Security officers at Overlake when responding to a security event, we will monitor and confirm these commitments to education and training for the nurses come to fruition.
On a related matter: We have outstanding information requests regarding these commitments and evaluate the necessity to bargain on any changes to your working conditions, including the use of tasers as a last resort to deescalate violence by Overlake security officers. WSNA has been informed that implementation is delayed as the employer continues to make preparations. Please read all employer communications and stay tuned to WSNA updates that will be shared with the nurses.
In case you missed it, the summary is on your local unit webpage. Here is the link to help nurses understand the effects upon your working conditions that lead to negotiating the MOU.
In unity,
