Bargaining Session 5 Update

Progress was on the slower side today as the Hospital showed up to the table an hour late. The Hospital presented its initial response to our economic proposal, which was well below the Union’s initial proposal and our analysis of wages at comparable hospitals.

Nial came in at 12:30 to present the Hospital's financials. The Hospital is projecting a positive operating margin for 2024 ($2M) and 2025 after many years of operating losses.

Following the financial presentation, the Union proposed a LOU to the Hospital regarding the new time clock system. The Hospital is moving from a rounding to a “minute-by-minute” timekeeping system and the Union is seeking to ensure that nurses have adequate time to clock in and don and doff where required. The Hospital countered our proposal of the LOU which we did not agree with and countered back. The hospital came back with their counter to our LOU counter. Things got a bit heated for a minute with members of the bargaining team speaking passionately about missed meal and rest breaks.

Our next session will be Wednesday, November 27, where we will be responding to the Hospital’s latest proposals including economics. If you are interested in coming as a bargaining supporter, please reach out to one of the local unit officers or your nurse representative Stephenie Troftgruben (stroftgruben@wsna.org).
