Good Sam Nurse Dawn Morrell inducted into the WSNA Hall of Fame
On March 21, Dawn Morrell was inducted into the WSNA Hall of Fame. Dawn recently retired from Good Samaritan after 40 years of dedicated service working in the ICU and Cardiac Cath Lab. She advocated for health care workers and for patients, by serving as a WSNA Officer. She continued her advocacy by serving as a state legislator and helped to pass the first Safe Staffing Law, amongst many important laws affecting healthcare. While at Good Samaritan, she served as a WSNA Grievance Officer, Staffing Committee Co-Chair and as a negotiating team member. If that was not enough, she also serves on committees at the Washington State Board of Nursing. Congratulations Dawn, and enjoy your retirement.
Good Sam Nurse Aaron Bradley named Nurse of the Year by the Rainier Olympic Nurses Association
The Rainier Olympic Nurses Association selected Aaron Bradley as the 2024 Nurse of the Year. Members of the RONA board surprised Aaron with the good news on March 28 while co-workers, union friends, and his managers looked on with support. Aaron has been a strong, dedicated nurse and leader on the Medical-Palliative unit for many years. He sets the example and has mentored many nurses, helping them to become excellent caregivers. Aaron has been a long time advocate for nurses and safe patient care by serving as a WSNA Officer, Staffing Committee Member, and has served on multiple Negotiating Teams. He gives so much of himself to his work, union and community, without seeking the spotlight. It’s time to say “Thank You” to Aaron by honoring him with this award.
