Bargaining Day 3

Cenwa1

Your fellow nurses on your WSNA bargaining team met with Management for our third day of negotiations on March 25, 2025. We presented proposals to Management to increase the Pool Nurse premium to a competitive level, to increase the Incentive Bonus for Retired Pool Nurses, to allow Pool Nurses to receive step increases after working a certain number of hours and to require Management to take measures to ensure that we have enough Pool Nurses to help with staffing needs.

We also proposed limiting the number of mandatory low census hours to 96 hours per year.  In order to ensure that nurses are able to take their vacations, we proposed increasing the number of nurses allowed off at one time.

We had good discussions with Management regarding nurses being able to take vacations that include a holiday by allowing them to find another nurse to work the holiday. Additionally, we proposed to clarify the process by which job share nurses coordinate their vacation requests.

Further, we had robust discussions with Management over the preceptor program and sought to have preceptor pay when nurses work with students.

Finally, we reached a tentative agreement that Management will make a good faith effort not to float charge nurses, preceptors and their preceptees while serving in those roles.  We are eager to hear from Management soon in response to some of our major proposals including economics.

Our next confirmed bargaining day is April 24. Please continue to show your support for your bargaining team!

Share your WSNA pride!

Make sure to wear your WNA blue shirts and “I support my bargaining team” stickers and pins on bargaining days. These can be found in a baggie on your WSNA bulletin board or on our next T shirt pickup! Let’s turn the hospital blue on bargaining days to show management that we’re united for a fair contract. Send any pictures of your unit decked out in blue to Central@wsna.org.
