Negotiations Update #3 – See it for yourself, come observe negotiations!
Posted Apr 18, 2025
We met with Management for the third time on Thursday, April 17. We did not receive a response to the proposals we shared with management on Monday around our key priorities of break relief and workplace violence, we anticipate a response in the next couple of sessions. We hear your concerns about the potential abuse of current low census language. We incorporated those concerns into our proposal that memorizes incentive shift pay language and includes low census protections. We also hear your concerns about Management’s inconsistent approach to determining who qualifies for incentive shifts. In response, we are discussing a proposal that creates clear, uniform language on who receives them and how they are offered. Management proposed language on progressive discipline to reflect current practices, along with updates to the LC and clinical clusters to align with new units like LTCC and Behavioral Health.
We can’t do it without all of you. Each of us can do three simple things to secure a strong contract.
1) See it for yourself: Come observe negotiations
A huge shoutout to the observers that took time out of their day to watch the negotiations process. Our next negotiation sessions will be on April 23 at the Gateway Building and April 24 at the E-Wing auditorium at NW. Come see how the sausage is made!
Here’s what some of our observers had to say about the experience of watching negotiations:
“As a first-time observer at our bargaining, I feel that I was able to have my voice heard working alongside our team by helping formulate questions and share feedback. I highly encourage everyone to attend to show support for all the work our bargaining team does and to help get our concerns across.”- Geraldine Cano RN LTCC
“I really enjoyed participating as an observer for negotiations. I literally had a seat at the table for this experience and can see how we are well represented by our hardworking bargaining team. For anyone else who wants to be more involved in negotiations, I strongly encourage you to attend as an observer.”- Crystal Gallegos RN SCU
We encourage observers to sign up here so we can keep track of how many people plan on attending, but you are not required to sign up to observe. If you plan on observing, please make sure to read through this document so you know what to expect. For any questions about observing negotiations, reach out to WSNA Organizer Zach at 206-406-7203.
2) Stay in the loop: We’re on Instagram!
Make sure you’ve joined our private Facebook group @uwnorthwestrns (ask your unit rep to add you if you’re not already on it) and our new Instagram @wsna_uwnorthwest. As we continue negotiations, it’s crucial to read the email updates and stay informed about what’s happening at the table.
3) Wear your “I support my bargaining team” buttons on Negotiation Days!
Wear your “I support my bargaining team” buttons to show management that we're united for a fair contract. Our next sessions are on Wednesday 4/23 & Thursday 4/24. Send any pictures of your unit wearing buttons to our Instagram @wsna_uwnorthwest, our private FB group, or WSNA Organizer Zach at 206-406-7203. Need a button?
