Following the King County Nurses Association (KCNA) Fall Summit on health equity and implicit bias Nov. 16, participants put their learning into action by assembling 400 cold and flu kits for vendors of the Real Change newspaper.

The hands-on community project was part of KCNA’s ongoing effort to make a difference in the lives of those often overlooked. The kits included tissues, hand sanitizer, cough drops, Advil and Ibuprofen — a vital resource during flu season.

This initiative directly aligns with Real Change’s mission to create a just, caring, and inclusive community free from racism and classism. Nurses and volunteers took pride in this meaningful work, contributing not only their time but also their compassion and commitment to supporting vulnerable populations.

Feedback from the event was overwhelmingly positive, with one participant saying, “I love assembling the cold and flu kits and look forward to this every year.”

Thank you again to all those who participated and made this project a success. Your contributions are making a real difference in our community!
