WSNA is pleased to announce our Fall Leadership Series, education events being held around the state that focus on how to put our legislative victories of 2019 into your practice.
You’ll learn what you can do as a nurse to ensure successful implementation of new laws aimed at preventing workplace violence and protecting overtime and breaks for healthcare professionals.
All events are free and participants earn 1.5 CNE credits for attendance. Dinner will be provided. See below for program details:
- Bring your questions and meet with a WSNA public affairs expert to hear about 2019 legislation that affects registered nurse practice in Washington state.
- Learn tactics to improve your personal safety on your facility campus and in your workplace. Predict and prepare for the unexpected using environmental scanning. Did you know that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration reports that is far safer to worker in nuclear power, construction and manufacturing than in a U.S. hospital?
- Most sessions also include a Nurses Speak session. The format has been likened to “speed dating,” where elected officials move from table to table hearing from nurses about what your day is like at work. At the end of the session, elected officials share what they’ve learned about nursing and patient safety. For many legislators, these events have been quite insightful and have led to bill sponsorships and votes.
