The Institute of Medicine will convene a Feb. 16 workshop to identify research priorities to inform public health and medical practice for domestic Zika virus.
Among other topics, invited experts and stakeholders will consider the need for clinical management, public health resources and guidance to inform prevention, mitigation, detection and treatment efforts; current efforts to better understand the virus and research gaps; risk factors for babies of infected pregnant women and the resources needed to care for affected individuals.
The workshop was requested by the Department of Health and Human Services, and will be webcast at www.nationalacademies.org.
