The Joint Commission's 2015 annual report on quality and safety recognizes more than 1,000 hospitals as "Top Performers," including 13 in Washington State. While the Joint Commission scores accredited hospitals on 49 performance measures, only a few of those are included in the Top Performer ranking criteria. The specific measures used to identify Top Performers include stroke care, venous thromboembolism care, inpatient psychiatric services, heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia.
