Section I: Lead, Drive, and Thrive: The Art of Navigating Health Care Systems
All nurses are leaders, but the challenges of the role require an adept and agile strategy for the navigation of health care systems. The challenges that nurse leaders face are distinct from any other profession, so leadership styles and solutions need to be just as unique. Nursing is both an art and a science, and so nurses must learn to translate their leadership learnings into practice as they understand and improve systems.
Join fellow nurses from across Washington State as ANA President, Dr. Jennifer S. Mensik Kennedy, shares critical information and practical strategies for how nurses can embrace their power of leadership and grow their skillset to lead, drive, and thrive in their system. Learn how to translate leadership theory into practice by understanding why the system exists and what benefits it brings to nurses and patients.
Section II: Lead, Drive and Thrive through Mentoring
Mentoring can be a pivotal experience for nursing professionals as they move through their career. Join Washington Center for Nursing’s Executive Director Sofia Aragon as she shares valuable wisdom about mentoring including how it builds leadership skills and social support systems critical for fulfillment and advancement. She will provide an overview of WCN’s mentoring program which supports diverse nurse educators and will be joined by a panel of the program’s participants. Hear firsthand about their personal experiences with mentoring and the impact it has had on their careers.
