Statement

I have been an active member of WSNA for several years, serving as a leader in a number of capacities. As a former assistant executive director with WSNA, an educator, nurse practitioner, nurse clinician, and advocate, I have demonstrated leadership and a strong commitment to advancing the nursing profession. My multifaceted background enables me to bring a wealth of expertise and a well-rounded perspective to the table in addressing the challenges and opportunities within healthcare. I strongly believe that WSNA represents the collective voice of all nurses, advocating for safe staffing, better working conditions, shaping policies, and engaging with the media. It’s an honor to continue being part of an organization that leads the nation in areas such as workplace safety, scope of practice, and policy development—issues that impact healthcare for our communities. These areas not only shape the professional landscape for nurses but also have a profound impact on the quality of care provided to the community.

Taking on the role of vice president is another way in which I can give back and continue to engage with members, our community, and to continue to build healthier working conditions for current and future nurses.

As a passionate advocate for underserved and under-represented populations, my most recent roles as a family nurse practitioner and director of nursing, working with our most marginalized communities gives me a unique perspective to advocate for policies and initiatives that directly address social determinants of health and disparities. My compassionate, informed approach and practical understanding of healthcare challenges can inform and shape the organization's priorities and decision-making, ensuring all voices are heard. Understanding the impact of nurse staffing and working conditions are not unique to one workplace environment, but to all.

The work of WSNA is never complete. It requires the involvement and commitment of its membership to drive the future for improving working conditions, safety, quality, and advocating for better care for all.
