Update on Staff Layoffs

Invest in staff sticker 100924 vm

As we mourn the monumental loss of our loyal, hard-working, compassionate nurses and staff in the recent FBC layoff announcement, we can’t help but also reflect on how this is also a huge loss of services that our community relied on.

It does not appear that “Human Kindness” is the primary motivator in the staffing cuts that CommonSpirit is proposing (and implementing), but we will leave you to ruminate on what those motivations may or may not be.

As we wrestle with the moral consequences of CommonSpirit's decision and negotiate around the effects of it for our brave nurses and staff here, a small comfort emerges.

WSNA members are not alone in our grief.

SEIU is also affected by these staffing shake-ups. For decades unions have found strength in numbers and in shared righteous causes, working together side by side for what is right.

It is time once again to show our collective power.

Starting this weekend with an emphasis on Monday for the joint Staffing Committee meeting, its time to show management that when they mess with one of us, they mess with all of us.

Wear your limited edition SEIU/WSNA sticker loud and proud and join us in making management look us in the eye as they propose cuts to staff and changes that affect us and our community.

Where to get a sticker?

Your Unit Reps and Officers will be rounding as they are able throughout the weekend and on Monday 10/14 with stickers along with SEIU Activists.
