KRONOS update

Now that KRONOS is up and running, WSNA is holding our KRONOS grievance in abeyance pending payments to nurses. Administration has announced a deadline of Feb. 4 for review and edits however, we have been assured that if “someone misses the timeline for whatever reason we will pay them as soon as possible once they and their manager have reconciled their hours.” Once WSNA believes most have been paid and there are not any outstanding issues, we will be withdrawing the grievance however, nurses will still have rights to back wages should they discover an error.

If for some reason it is discovered that you have been overpaid and need to pay it back in installments, please contact your nurse rep if you need assistance in making arrangements.

Taxes and KRONOS paymentsPer HR, any wages paid and those related withholdings will be reflected on your 2022 tax documents. If you have further questions, please consult with your tax preparer.

WSNA will be discussing KRONOS at our upcoming Conference Committee meeting including steps that can be taken to prevent future issues like this.

WSNA Leadership Conference scholarship opportunities

Don’t miss WSNA’s labor training event at Campbell’s Resort in Chelan April 24 – 26!
Join nurses from around the state as we convene to build stronger local units, become more effective leaders, learn more about the national and state labor scenes, celebrate our successes, and strategize for what’s coming next.

If you are a staffing committee member, safety committee member, unit rep/liaison or a member in one of WSNA’s local units who is interested in advocating for nurses and becoming more involved in your union, this conference is for you.

We are sponsoring 3 fully paid scholarships including tuition, room and mileage. You may be asked to share a hotel room. You must be a WSNA member to receive a scholarship. Scholarships will be on a first come, first served basis and you will need to be sure to arrange for the time off.

For more information, see https://www.wsna.org/calendar/union-leadership-conference/

If you would like to take sign up for one of these scholarships, please contact your nurse rep, Sara Frey sfrey@wsna.org Of course, we encourage everyone to attend this valuable conference.

**Please note this is an in-person event and WSNA will be carefully monitoring the current COVID situation.

Grievances

We have had several grievance wins. Here is a summary:

Membership dues

We had a grievance around membership dues for members from August to November 2021 last year. Article 2.2 states "The amount deducted and a roster of all nurses using payroll deduction will be promptly transmitted to the Association by check payable to its order." We recently won this grievance and have recovered all the money owed to WSNA.

OR schedule

Last summer, we filed a grievance around the OR schedule, especially around the on-call schedule. Throughout the grievance steps, we have been able to make progress on this issue and recently were able to come to a resolution. We know that there have been changes in the OR along with turnover in the OR. Now there is a different ANM that is making the nurse schedule, which is working more collaboratively with the nurses in the OR. Also, the 3 items that Virginia Mason has agreed to do are,

  1. Travelers to continue with taking call shifts
  2. The full call list by seniority is to be posted and updated as it is used
  3. Volunteers to always are asked for first prior to going to the "call list" what they are calling the "bubble list"
