Congratulations - We have a ratified contract!

Processed C0 B25 CAB 8917 4 E05 88 EB AD211 F022 FEC

By an overwhelming majority – 93% (731 yes to 50 no) – and an overwhelming turnout (63% of us voted) – we have ratified our contract! New wages and premiums & differentials become effective on Jan. 5; the rest of the contract became effective immediately upon ratification.

We made amazing gains in this contract, including the highest wage for 25-year nurses in the state of Washington (and many of the highest steps in the Puget Sound area) , an equitable (and incentivized) system of call (that has already proven effective in getting open call shifts staffed in at least one unit), weapons detectors in the ED, and so much more! Your ten bargaining team members worked hard to deliver this contract – they gave up work shifts to make bargaining dates, they used their PTO to supplement lost income, and each volunteered roughly 140 hours (that’s a conservative estimate) to bring home this historic agreement. Please show your appreciation and acknowledge their service by donating PTO to the bargaining team to defray the financial hit they took by using this form, and emailing it to sjmc@wsna.org (or give it to your friendly, exhausted bargaining team member). You can donate as little as one hour – you have until Jan. 9 to make your donation.

Lastly, get involved. Had some bones to pick with the contract and what it does and doesn’t contain? Get involved – do more than just post about it. Step up become engaged in our Union. There are committees that need members, unit rep positions to fill, and officer elections coming soon. Be the change you want to see in your contract. Keep your eyes open for more details in early January, sign up to be notified of 2025 Unit Rep trainings here, and have a safe New Year.
