Important message about Kronos overpayment repayment plan
Posted Mar 8, 2022
- WSNA has serious concerns with MultiCare’s plan to deduct money from nurses’ paychecks for alleged overpayments during the Kronos outage from December to February. We believe that MultiCare is required to bargain with us before implementing any such plan, including any alternate repayment plans.
- On Monday, WSNA, along with UFCW and SEIU, asked MultiCare to postpone the deadline for requesting an alternate repayment plan, as well as the date it will begin making paycheck deductions, until we complete negotiations over the terms of any repayments. MultiCare refused.
- The deadline to request an alternate repayment plan is tomorrow, March 9, by noon. If you are concerned about the amount that may be deducted from your paychecks beginning March 18, you should request an alternate plan. You can do so by filling out an alternative recoupment plan request form found on the payroll page on Point MultiCare. WSNA will continue to argue that MultiCare must bargain with us over those alternate repayment plans, including any future adjustments or changes.
- WSNA is taking steps to protect our members’ rights. We have filed unfair labor practice charges with the NLRB (National Labor Relations Board) over MultiCare’s failure to bargain before implementing its repayment plan, along with other related charges. We have asked the NLRB to order MultiCare not to make any paycheck deductions. We do not know whether the NLRB will respond before MultiCare’s March 18 deadline. WSNA remains absolutely opposed to MultiCare’s plan and will continue to fight for our members’ rights to have a say in how repayments will be handled.
- Whether you request an alternate plan or not, all paycheck deductions for overpayments must comply with the state law on overpayments, WAC 296-126-030. On Monday, WSNA expressed our concerns to MultiCare that its plan to deduct money from nurses’ paychecks without their consent does not meet those requirements. MultiCare did not agree.
- If you believe that your workplace rights have been violated, you can file a complaint with the Department of Labor & Industries online or by downloading and mailing the complaint form here: https://lni.wa.gov/workers-rights/workplace-complaints/worker-rights-complaints.
