Negotiation Update

We had our 6th day of negotiations with management on 12/8/22.

Jail Health (JHS)
We continue to hear from JHS leaders that bargaining unit nurses are a priority for scheduling. To that end, we are close to finalizing language that would require JHS nurses to be notified of the posted schedule 24 hours before agency nurses, giving the bargaining unit the first opportunity to pick up shifts.

We had a good conversation about parking. The County understands our large concerns about safety and is exploring the cost and logistics of paid parking.

New ARNP Psych Classification
For over two years there have been conversations with the County about the pay of Psych ARNPs. The County has finally concluded the process of establishing a new classification and has proposed new pay rates. Both parties are very interested in implementing this ASAP. We made a counter proposal today and are very close to an agreement on a pay scale for this new classification.

Community Health Services (CHS)
We had continued dialogue on remote work practices for CHS. WSNA continues to work with the County around language that will allow County vehicles to be parked in an alternative location in proximity to the clients being served.

Economics
We did not get a response from the County on our economics proposal. They need more time in order to have their labor analysts look at the numbers that we proposed last week. We expect a counter in early January.

We do have 3 more dates with the County scheduled for the new year, January 11, 25, and February 2, 2023.

Membership always matters

Membership matters more than ever right now. We are not an exclusive “club” of a few nurses. We are WSNA. Counting on everyone else to get things done and pay for the resources makes us weaker and it shows. We know so many of you are exhausted and ready to look for jobs somewhere else. Help us to help you. If you are not a member, why not? We would love to have one of our fellow Seattle King County nurses follow up and address your concerns. If you want to talk about it reach out to Nurse Representative Michelle Moore at mmoore@wsna.org.
