More of your questions answered

Many of you have seen the “FAQ Regarding Strikes” communications from management. It raised as many questions as it answered. Here are WSNA’s responses.

Will I get fined if I cross the picket line?
NO.
WSNA is not going to fine you — we’re going to support each other. It’s not in WSNA’s Bylaws and Local Unit Rules, and WSNA has NEVER imposed fines against nurses who choose to work during a strike. If it comes to a strike, we certainly hope every Sacred Heart nurse will join us on the picket line to make the strike as effective as possible as we work to achieve our goals at the bargaining table. Crossing a picket line erodes camaraderie in the workplace, prolongs the strike and negatively impacts our efforts to work as a team once the strike is settled. But, no, we will not fine you if you choose to go to work.

Do I have be a member of WSNA?
If you want to vote on strike authorization, you must be a WSNA member in good standing. We are proud that the vast majority of nurses at Sacred Heart are members of WSNA—our unity makes us strong! If you are not a member and want to join (and vote in the upcoming strike authorization), you can complete a WSNA member application. If you choose to have your dues deducted from payroll for the next year, you don’t have to pay anything up front. If payroll deduction is not selected, three months advance payment will be required.

Will I be harassed at work if I don’t support the strike?
WSNA does not support harassment of any kind. We don’t want to harass anyone – we want to talk to each other about the very important decision on whether to authorize a strike.

WSNA is committed to providing accurate information and answers to your questions and concerns.
