Let’s talk about Insurance

We have heard the new insurance plan continues to be an issue.

See the information and resources below from a message HR sent on January 28, 2025.  Also posted on FB 8th Avenue and Liaison/Shop Steward communication site.

“I am including the best resources for RNs in this email. Please note that all of these resources (advocate number, benefits service center, choosewell.org etc) have all been available to all caregivers for several months. There were also a number of Connections articles leading up to and after open enrollment with these resources.

The best resource is to call 833-529-1661. This is Aetna service advocate. These are the people who can provide most of the answers to individual caregiver questions related to their medical and pharmacy benefits. This team is available 24/7.

We also recommend that they register through Aetna, either through downloading the app or going through the caregiver service portal through my choosewell.org (see link below)

https://www.mychoosewell.org/  This link leads caregivers to where they can set up their account (referenced above) as well as other Aetna resources including an FAQ and the link to the phone number above which is who they would call to recommend a provider to Aetna. Aetna then reaches out to see if that provider would like to be part of their network and if negotiations are successful, the provider is added. Keep in mind that some providers may choose not to participate.

The Benefits Service Center number is 888.615.6481 and is staffed weekdays 7:30 am - 6:00 pm. This option should be accessed if they are unable to get the answers they are looking for through Aetna or if the issue is related to cancelation of benefits as this team is an internal Providence team who can act as liaison with Aetna if needed.

I hope that pulling these resources into one space will be helpful.”   PSHMC HR
