Nurses Week celebration

Your local unit officers and WSNA wanted to celebrate you! Nurses stopped by to get their Nurses Week gift, free espresso, and breakfast/lunch. Your regional nurses association is Inland Empire Nurses Association (IENA). The WSNA represented facilities St. Luke's, Spokane Veterans Home, Holy Family, Sacred Heart, Spokane Regional Health District, Providence VNA, and Pullman Regional Hospital are covered by IENA. They offer annual continuing education events, leadership opportunities and scholarships. Learn more about them at https://ienanurses.org/.

IENA wants the nurses at Pullman to know they are behind you and support the work you are doing. Happy Nurses Week Pullman Regional Hospital nurses!

Fact or fiction? Supplemental nurses are not part of WSNA

Fiction!

We have learned recently that nurses transitioning into supplemental roles are having their dues shut off by payroll. Supplemental nurses are part of WSNA and pay a reduced rate only during the months they work. If you don’t pick up a shift in May, you don’t pay member dues that month. WSNA is proud of this process as it doesn’t require nurses to call Membership and have their dues turned on and off.

Membership matters

Membership in the union is crucial because it provides workers with a collective voice. By banding together, we gain strength and leverage to address your important workplace issues and advocate for your rights effectively.

Why should you join WSNA now if you haven’t before?

The number of nurses involved in their local unit and engaging in committees and events shows Pullman Regional that nurses know their rights. Management knows every nurse who joins the union is another nurse who won’t back down.

Not only is WSNA here to advocate with you on wages, hours, and working conditions but your union also provides continuing education opportunities like our Leadership Conference and Convention. Ryan Graves, RN in the ER (pictured below) was sponsored by WSNA nurses from Sacred Heart to attend our 2-day leadership conference in Chelan. He is pictured speaking to the wins, struggles, and future hopes the nurses in Pullman have for improving their working conditions and membership.

Annette Rictor along with 13 other nurses joined WSNA during our Nurses Week celebration. Many thought they had been members and management had taken care of their information upon hire. A few didn’t know where to look and a few struggled with financial commitment in the past.

Where is my WSNA board?

Recently, all the WSNA boards were updated (except the ER- see you in June!). We have updated them with officer information, copies of your contract, swag, and information on filling out unsafe staffing forms.

Volunteer with WSNA!

WSNA nurses at Pullman Regional Hospital are sponsoring two first aid stations at Lauren’s Lap, a powerful event in Pullman dedicated to raising awareness and support victims of domestic violence and stalking. This event is happening Saturday September 28, 2024, at 9am at OTT Road & Grimes Way. We are looking for nurses to volunteer to provide first aid and will be sending out more information as it becomes available.
