Bargaining Update - Day 4

On August 16, 2024, our bargaining team met with PeaceHealth St. John administration for our fourth day of bargaining. Management gave us a comprehensive proposal that included a slight increase in wages, but they continue to reject our proposals on weekend pay, float pay and increases to standby pay.

Digital Scheduling Update

We discussed management’s proposal related to scheduling and gained some insight. PeaceHealth tells us that this is not a move to “self-scheduling “as we commonly know it and more of a move to digitize your current scheduling processes. They confirmed they do not intend to change how each unit sets their schedules, so your schedules, patterns, and regular shifts shouldn’t change but you’ll use a new software program to submit your preferences and receive your schedule. They also confirmed that part of the coding process will focus on ensuring digital scheduling follows our contract language.

We need to know what you think about how scheduling is done so we can bargain for language that protects your priorities while management develops this program. At our next session we’ll be sharing your priorities with management. We need you to tell us which parts of your scheduling process matter most to you, which would you want to see changed, and what questions would you have before you’d feel comfortable with using digital scheduling. Please take our survey to provide feedback! We currently have nearly 200 participants and hope to hear from every WSNA member at the hospital!
