Nurse Staffing Committee
Wednesday, Aug. 11, from 1 to 2:25 p.m.
Staffing Committee Wednesday 8/11 at 1PM:
Leadership routed us back to staffing committee concerning the staffing crisis. We encourage everyone to attend virtually, particularly those of you who have filed ADOs.
Contact your officers, nurse rep or organizer for the meeting link.
Happy Hour:
Tuesday, Aug. 10 from 5-9 p.m. at the Lunchbox:
Zach and Sam will be at the Lunchbox on 112th on the patio masked up. We will be there to commiserate, celebrate and file some complaints with some regulatory bodies (super fun). Show up if you can and we miss you if you can’t.
COVID Corner:
Governor Inslee just released a mandate for all healthcare workers. Please see the WSNA website for the full position statement. There are a lot of moving pieces on this issue and our thoughts are ambivalent. What we are not ambivalent about is:
- The vaccine is effective and should be strongly encourage, unless there is a contraindication.
- An employer needs to bargain any vaccine mandate with WSNA.
- Other public health interventions should be in place. E.g. making it easy for people to stay home, masking, N95s for staff in high risk areas, appropriate break rooms, solutions for housing and debt.
- The consequences to our communities, our families, ourselves and nurses has been catastrophic.
- We will share more thoughts as the issue changes.
W3:
What is up with West 3? It looks like an infusion center and has no staff of its own and is floating people from already strapped floors to staff it. If anyone has details, please share them with us. We will be talking with Overlake for more specifics as well.
