Bargaining update
Posted Mar 22, 2021
We had our third bargaining session on Thursday 3/18. We gave Management a comprehensive economic proposal, and asked Management to give us a response at our next session 4/1 – they were unclear if they can be ready by April Fool’s Day, two weeks away (the irony is not lost on us!). We rejected Management’s proposed decrease in PTO accrual and conveyed how unhappy nurses are over their plan.
"Management also proposed an increase in per diem commitments – management now proposes that per diem nurses to work one weekend every schedule period. As a per diem, I can tell you that this is not something I am ok with. It is a short-sighted bandage for our short staffing problems. We suspect it will make our staffing problem worse as per diems leave the hospital." -Pauline Whitney-Hille RN
We have reached a tentative agreement on increased bereavement time and the ability for our officers to get paid when they support us in disciplinary investigations, a win!
We remain focused on retention, staffing, and wages while Management continues to show contempt for our needs.
