Negotiations update
Posted Feb 22, 2022
Hello nurses at Ocean Beach Hospital,
Recently, we asked all RNs to tell us what issues were most important to them in negotiations for a new contract. Not many responded, and those that did only identified a wage increase as a primary concern. With that in mind, your bargaining team quickly reached a tentative agreement with management for a new one-year agreement with a 5% across-the-board wage increase! There would be no other changes.
Here’s how the new agreement would work:
- All RNs would receive a 5% increase effective April 1 this year.
- No other changes would be made to the contract.
- This agreement would be for one year, so we would go to full negotiations for a new, longer contract early in 2023.
In previous years, Ocean Beach RNs have typically received wage increases of 3% annually. 5% is obviously much better, and it’s also very competitive in the area when compared to both public and private employers.
Because this is a one-year agreement, we will be able to go to the bargaining table early next year and pursue any other changes you identify as important before then, as well as additional wage increases in future years.
Congratulations!
In solidarity,
