Security Alert and Update
Posted Aug 13, 2021
Hello UWMC-NW RNs,
WSNA has heard your safety concerns regarding recent car-jackings, robbery, and a vandalized car. We expressed to labor relations that their current practices are putting nurses at grave risk. We have subsequently inquired about safety practices and resources that UWMC does have in place in these public garages/parking lots and in/around the premises and what changes they were making to improve security. Unfortunately, we, along with you, are frustrated with their answers and failure to make immediate meaningful changes. You have given every ounce to protect our community and deserve the same in return.
That is why we want to hear from you!
We are hosting a virtual Teams meeting to hear about your concerns and solicit specific suggestions that we can demand to improve your safety. The meeting will be open to all nurses and management because we want to explore all avenues for talking about this crisis. We encourage you to share the link. The meeting will include WSNA management, Representative Ed Zercher, Organizer Will Nesper, and your elected officers.
If you cannot attend the meeting, please email Will Nesper (wnesper@wsna.org) with your concerns and suggestions on improving campus safety.
Meeting date/time: Monday, 8/16/21 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
