Bargaining update
Posted Jun 10, 2021
Your WSNA team of NW registered nurses met with UWMC management and administrators for a 5th session on Wednesday, June 9.
The employer presented its opening economic proposal that included a 1% raise as of July 1. 2021 and 1% on July 1, 2022. This was accompanied by what the employer dubbed as a “3% recruitment and retention” bonus of 0 (zero) to 4.3% depending on where an RN falls on the wage scale (step scale).
We remain a bit confused and are still trying to make sense of this. This wage proposal was unfortunately tied to some outstanding takeaways including mandatory multi-campus floating, removal of the Zipper Clause (this gives the employer to ability to open the contract for bargaining at any time), significant changes in represented Per Diem requirements, in addition to various scheduling changes and requirements.
WSNA offered some counters to the employer’s proposals related to staffing/safety committees, staffing, job posting, seniority, and low census.
Our next bargaining session is scheduled for Tuesday, June 15. Stay tuned for updates at wsna.org.
Your team of UWMC NW registered nurses looks forward to continuing to advocate for your needs and fight for a fair contract!
In Solidarity,
