Critical Incentive Shift MOU Extended
Your officers have been working with leadership to discuss the future of the Critical Incentive Shift MOU. While that work is in progress, we have agreed to extend the existing MOU on a monthly basis until a new version can be negotiated. Our goal is to make the Incentive shifts more easily accessible and standardize how they are offered. Critical Incentive Shifts are an excellent way to ensure the hospital has safe staffing as the hospital continues their efforts to recruit new nurses.
Overpayments and Underpayments of Critical Shift Incentive
WSNA has been investigating the use of the Critical Shift Incentive bonuses as part of our intent to rework the MOU. In the course of our research and fact-gathering, payroll discovered discrepancies in how it has been credited on your paystubs. There were several instances where the incorrect pay code was used leading to several underpayments as well as a small number of overpayments. The hospital will be reaching out to those of you who received erroneous pay. If you were subject to underpayment, the union has been told that you will receive the amount you were underpaid in one of the next two paychecks. For the small group that were subject to overpayments, payroll will invite you to meet with them to discuss a payment plan if necessary. As Island Hospital is a public hospital, by state law they must correct these payment errors. If you have any questions or need assistance, please let your Nurse Rep know (gchesterman@wsna.org).
Please continue to diligently review your timecards for accuracy to ensure you are getting compensated for your work. If you have questions about how to read your timecard or the pay codes, please reach out to your HR/Payroll department for assistance.
