Negotiations update
Posted Feb 19, 2021
You Island Nurses are fantastic! You spoke up and management is listening.
Your team was able to make some considerable progress at negotiations today. We have had some movement in the wage proposal and while we do not have a tentative agreement yet, the movement is very encouraging. We have been able to continue to oppose any increase in the low census cap and kept the door open for discussions about dependent benefit coverage.
What's next?
We are only scheduled for one additional negotiations session on Feb 25. We are NOT scheduling additional days at this time and will wait to do so until seeing what proposal management brings at our next session. Management has indicated that they can still make movement in the areas that are critical to all of you and has expressed a desire to attempt to reach an agreement at next week’s session.
Now is not the time to let up off the gas pedal!
We are asking that you continue to post car signs and yard signs. We have additional yard signs that hopefully you will see around the community proudly displayed by businesses that support you - their community hospital nurses. Please flood your social media with photos with the hashtag #SupportIslandRNs and let’s get this trending. All your effort thus far is proving fruitful so please keep up the pressure.
