Day 10 negotiations update
Posted Jun 14, 2022
We met with administration again on Monday, June 13. We continued to present our aggressive economic proposals. We used the data you provided with your answers to the wages survey. Your voices were heard loud and clear. The purpose of using that data was to demonstrate the commitment of our bargaining unit as a whole. In our presentation, we also shared your comments from question 4, taking the opportunity for each of the respondents’ voices to be heard. Thank you to all who participated on such short notice.
Once again, we were disappointed but not surprised with admins answering proposal. For wages, they initially proposed a 6% increase in the first year with 2.5% and 2.5% for each of the following years. Based on the data from the survey, we countered with 12% for year 1 followed by 3% and 3% for the following 2 years.
We fought for and got strong language for the Workplace Violence committee and continued to fight for parity for our experienced nurses and strong contract language that prioritizes filling open positions with our own nurses first.
We are scheduled to meet with management on June 22. We expect to get a counter to our economic proposal at that time.
