Today is the first cutoff of the legislative session – meaning all policy bills must be voted out of the policy committee in their house of origin to keep moving through the process.

For the first time anyone can remember, all committee hearings were canceled on Monday due to snow.

The second week of the legislative session got off to a fast start! On Monday, both the House and Senate Labor Committees held hearings on our Rest Break bills, SB 5190 (Senate) and HB 1155 (House).

The 2019 Legislative session officially began Monday with the swearing in of new legislators. Notably, this biennium, we have the most pro-nurse legislature in recent years!

This week, both the Senate and House released their budget proposals. Several WSNA priority bills moved out of the policy committee in the opposite chamber this week.

Today is the 40th day of the 60-day session – and this week marked the house of origin cutoff, with all bills needing to be voted out of the chamber in which they originated by Feb. 14 to continue moving this session.
