Beloved colleague and dear friend Barbara Curtis passed away at her home in Florida on Oct. 18, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was a past president of WSNA and a member of the WSNA Hall of Fame and the ANA Hall of Fame.

On Nov. 11, nurses at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center - Bellingham celebrated Veteran's Day with a 3-hour negotiations kickoff event.
Several hundred nurses at Kadlec Medical Center, along with supporters, rallied on Monday to bring attention to ongoing contract negotiations, now in their sixth month.

The Washington State Department of Health has found that Whidbey General Hospital is violating the state’s “Safe Nurse Staffing” law, created in 2008 to ensure that hospitals and nurses work together to develop nurse staffing plans adequate to keep patients safe.

Dr. Kathryn E. Barnard, UW School of Nursing professor emeritus and eponymous founder of the school’s Barnard Center on Infant Mental Health and Development, died June 27. She was 77.
