Bargaining team update
Posted Feb 5, 2025
This is Tracy Pullar from the bargaining team with an update for the last two days of negotiations. Your bargaining team finished giving our last reserved proposals and presented them to management. This included staffing committee, floating and we tackled insurance. In other words, we have all our cards on the table.
Management came back with holiday requests, their version of the Hospice MOU and discussed our staffing committee proposal yesterday. Today, we finally got management's economic proposal, and it is as awful as we all thought it would be. Eggs are $7.00 a dozen and everything in your life has gone up in price, but management thinks you only deserve a raise of a cumulative 7.7% over the next 3 years (for comparison, our last contract had 13% cumulative over 3 years). They want us to go back to a set shift differential for evenings and nights with no yearly increase. Management wants to get rid of EIB. Very importantly, they want to separate Hospice nurses' pay scale away from the rest of the bargaining unit, which would leave them very vulnerable to have lower wages next time around. If they can do this to Hospice, they could come for your unit next.
