Do you know why it is important to contribute to WSNAs PAC (Political Action Committee)?

Remember, none of your dues go to political candidates, only contributions to the PAC.

WSHA (Washington State Hospital Association) has more funds to fight us in Olympia. We endorse candidates who support nurses and their rights to good working conditions.

What is Labor to Neighbor? 

Labor to Neighbor is when staff and members of all the different unions that are part of the WSLC come together on behalf of candidates that support labor (see COPE endorsed candidates list here). We phonebank and knock on doors (depending on your preference and availability) with our other fellow union siblings and share information about the candidates that we're supporting and why.

Why does it matter? 

Word of mouth is the strongest form of advertisement. Hearing from a fellow union member on who they're supporting and why is proven to be the most effective way for us to support our labor friendly candidates get elected. Programs like Labor to Neighbor are highly influential and can often be the support they need to get them across the finish line.

How does WSLC COPE endorsed candidates compare to WSNA PAC endorsed candidates? 

For the most part, our WSNA PAC tends to fall in line pretty close to those candidates that WSLC COPE endorses. We may differ on a few races for some legislators who have been there for us on some of our bills, but maybe not for all of WSLC's priorities. How can I sign up? 

Go with a friend or colleague and tell your members about it. This will happen again in October before the big General Election. If you'd like to coordinate with others at WSNA to go together or find out who else has signed up and when, email Sami Bailey at sbailey@wsna.org.
