Providence VNA Negotiation Update Day #3

20240711 Negotiating team day 3

On July 11, your negotiating team completed the third bargaining session with management. We were able to tentatively agree on some contract changes; but on some major issues, we remain far apart. We spent time sharing why we think some of management’s proposals will drive more nurses away. For example, management has proposed elimination of overtime pay after 8 hours and much more burdensome requirements for relief nurses.

We all know that PVNA continues to struggle to recruit and retain nurses and relies heavily on traveler nurses.  We proposed wage increases and changes to working conditions intended to make PVNA a desirable place to work.   We feel that management’s initial proposal to increase wages by only 2% in each year of the contract will do little to recruit and retain nurses.

We continue to stress the importance of having safe working environments, free from workplace violence and have had productive initial conversations on the topic.

Our next scheduled date is July 22. Until then, continue to wear WSNA blue by way of buttons, badge buddies or any swag while at work. If you are on Facebook and Instagram, be sure to follow us!
