Update on Meal Breaks and Kronos Rounding
Posted May 9, 2022
Last week we came to agreements with MultiCare regarding the 2nd Meal Break and Kronos Rounding and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for both of these issues. These agreements include language that was not previously included in MultiCare’s policy, and we want to provide you with updates of the changes.
2nd Meal Break
If you choose NOT to sign the waiver:
PTO will not automatically be taken from your bank
- PTO can only be taken if you request it
- If you have not met your FTE, you can use PTO, take it unpaid, or work extra to make up time
Taking breaks will not automatically be subtracted from meeting your FTE
- FTE hours will be calculated at the end of the pay period, not daily
- You will have time to determine if your hours are short and make the best choice for your circumstances (PTO, unpaid time, or extra hours)
- Extra hours worked are eligible for overtime and premiums as defined by the CBA
Missing breaks
Missed breaks are paid time and count towards meeting your FTE hours
- You must report these missed breaks for these to be paid time
Benefits will not change based on waiver
- Benefits and accruals will not change in the system and will continue at your current rate
You can retract the waiver at any time.
You cannot be threatened, intimidated, or coerced into signing this waiver. If you feel that you have been, please contact your nurse rep and discuss this.
Kronos Rounding
We have entered into a temporary agreement with MultiCare about the elimination of Kronos Rounding. We are in the process of monitoring this new system to see if it is effective on the units.
Please notify us if you cannot sign in on time due to faulty equipment, too few computers, long lines to sign in/ out, or other logistical issues. We also want to hear from anyone who faces discipline related to these changes, because MultiCare has stated that discipline is not their intent.
