Special message from your WSNA Co-Chair Didi Gray – Plus, how to share your feedback with management

Yesterday I sent the message below to Tracy Fernandez, PeaceHealth Southwest CEO and Liz Dunne, PeaceHealth System CEO. We have heard the calls for vote of no confidence in PeaceHealth leadership. Before going down that road, the bargaining team is requesting a meeting with PeaceHealth’s CEOs to discuss nurse working conditions and the current state of bargaining. We hope that they accept our demand to meet. Either way, we will let you know how they respond and what the next steps will be. Read on for what I shared with management and how you can share your feedback with them directly.

CEOs Dunne and Fernandez,

I am writing to you both on behalf of the nurses at PeaceHealth Southwest. We are formally requesting a meeting with you to discuss our concerns with our working conditions and to discuss the current state of bargaining. As you may know, many of the nurses in our bargaining unit are calling for a vote of no confidence in PeaceHealth leadership.  The bargaining team would like to have a conversation with the both of you before we take such a step. We hope that a conversation with you will provide insight into organizational goals, along with helping you better understand how the unmet needs of the nurses are impacting the organization. We’ve had productive conversations with our CNO on nursing practice issues and found common ground and pathways forward on many of the language issues throughout the contract, but the financial terms and systemwide policies management has proposed continue to prevent us from reaching a deal.

Please let us know if you are agreeable to a meeting as soon as possible but no later than May 15, 2024. We hope to meet by May 20th, so please provide dates in which you are available if you accept our invitation. We’d like to meet without either party’s counsel or our mediator so we can share our concerns with you directly.

Respectfully,

Didi Gray BSN, RN-Staff RN FBC
