Mandatory Education Grievance UPDATE
Posted Nov 1, 2024
Recently, a grievance was filed on behalf of Shelli Roberts (7S) and all affected for the issue of education pay when asked by Providence to complete required education. In addition to the issues argued, it was identified during the grievance process nurses were being allotted a three-hour block of education time for the September skills fair, vs being paid by clocking in and out. WSNA raised the issue to preserve correct pay and overtime premiums. Education is considered hours worked and should be considered in the computation towards overtime.
Calling all nurses!
If you participated in the skills fair this past September, check your pay stubs!
You should be paid for the actual time spent at the skills fair (and not a three-hour block) as well as any overtime, or other premiums accrued as a result.
If you were not paid in this way, send an email to Jaclyn Smedley, Nurse Rep., by Nov. 15 indicating any impacted dates, what you were paid, and what you should have been paid, as well as any missing accrued premiums.
We are working to get all impacted nurses corrected and need to hear from you by the deadline.
